I find it a little embarrassing (but more than a little funny) that the only thing from this week's show on Hay House that I've put into practice was peanut butter and bacon sandwiches (which, true to Michael's world, have to be tasted to be believed).

Odder still, seeing as said sandwiches weren't the topic of the show and were only (if memory serves) mentioned once, while savoring the sandwich, I could not remember for the life of me what the topic of the show had been or what else had been suggested.

Now, having re-listened, I'm grateful both for the usual good ideas, and the unusual culinary one, which really made my day today.  Smiley

If I have only enriched one life with the introduction of Peanut Butter and Bacon sandwiches into their diet, my work here on the planet has not been in vain...  Cheesy

thanks for the kind words, Max!

love,

Hearing Michael's love of peanut butter and bacon sandwiches transported me back to the one time I was really grateful for peanut butter (it's only ever been once).

I was out hiking in the Adirondacks in NY. I was far from home, an ocean away in fact. I was in the back country and not many people around as this was mid week, mid winter. I had got a packed lunch from the lodge and was disappointed to find only one meat sandwich, the other one a peanut butter / jelly combo. Now I have never liked the stuff so tucked it back in my pack. As the day went on and I realised that I was starting to lose light and time to get back safely I got caught in a nasty squall. I was now cold, tired and hungry. I hunkered down under the trees and examined the contents of my pack. Various candy / chocolate and the dreaded sandwich, now looking rather battered after a day in my pack. It practically oozed out of the greaseproof paper toward me. My mind turned to the almost mystical properties ascribed to these sandwiches by my father. I started to eat it. I will be honest, it wasn't like I enjoyed it. I was glad that the chef had been heavy handed with the jelly but I finished it. Now obviously it gave me strength and I completed the day albeit in darkness. The lesson? Whilst I still don't eat the stuff I will always be grateful to peanut butter.

Cheese and jam sandwiches, now that's a different matter!

Great show-I now have to try a bacon and peanut butter sandwich too if for no other reason than to compare it to the sandwich I used to often indulge in as a student- Peanut butter, Salami, Cheese, Thousand Island dressing and Chilli Sauce. I'm grateful of being reminded of this although my waistline may not be!

Whilst rummaging on the internet researching other things I came across this brilliant quote in a reply on someone’s blog. (I’d love to be able to attribute it but I’m not sure who was writing)
It lists 4 frames that can be used as starting points for your ‘attitude of gratitude’ and some lovely examples.

Humility: List three things you did not earn or deserve. I am grateful for the beauty of the water, the soup Miles brought me, and the luxury of working in bed.

Wonder: List three things that are beyond your understanding or knowledge. I am grateful for electricity, marathon running, and poets.

Willingness: List three positive things about yourself. I am grateful for my sense of humor, intelligence, and ambition.

Desire: List three things from your vision that you have or can have right now. I am grateful for connection with my family, my car, and the opportunity to laugh at myself.

I like to end the day on a note of gratitude and find this is great template to use.

So, of course, I’m now also grateful for the wonder of the internet (which is all magic and electric string to me!) and for the wisdom and humour of whoever wrote the original. Smiley

Take it easy,

Tim.
