I've been meditating for about 2 years consistently.... I've done Japa and Insight Meditation and I'm currently working with visualizations.

What I'm wondering if different types of meditation have different effects on your body. On one of Cheryl Richardson's CDs, she talks about a woman who was in her 40s/50s who got a brain scan that proved she had the brain of a 20 year old. The doctor curiously asked her if she was a meditator and she said she had indeed been meditating for most of her life.

I've also read/heard about the "God Realized Masters" who, when exhumed, still have a complete body.

I'm wondering if specific types of meditation create different results in your body. I know any type of meditation is beneficial (and it feels wrong to ask what's the "best" type of meditation)... But what I'd like to know is if different types of meditation produce different chemical results in one's body. . . And also, if/how the length and frequency of one's practice has an impact.

Oh and one specific qu for Michael... Could you share your daily practice with us?

Thanks!!

karen

I remember reading a while back that a type of meditation thickened and strengthened parts of the brain. I'm now being very vague here because I'm not sure what the effect was other than the structure change. I don't know the name of the meditation but the person would sit for a while just becoming aware of what was going on. If a thought entered then it would just be noticed and nothing more. No interaction other than observing. I wish I could tell you more but the sands of time have covered up the pyramids of knowledge on the subject. I'll send a team to start digging... Grin
