It is so true how much of a role our expectations in our mind play in regards to our happiness.
Especially in regards to relationships.  Standards for ourselves - Agreements with others -  Hope - all better than expectations!  And what a great definition of hope "Hope is not a promise that something you want will happen - it is an invitation to enjoy the possibility of what you want while you and life negotiate the eventual outcome."
Have a great week!

I am in love with, you might say devoted, to Hope, it's never far away when you need it.

How nice would it be if performance management systems didn't work on the basis of expectations?  Well, I can't change that, but when a member of the team has performed something  'to a better than I had hoped for', I can exactly say that.

Imagine the warm feelings those words will bring.

Imagine encouraging somebody to achieve what seems an impossible expectation by making it a wonderful hope, without the stigma of failure...

I think I might just have start consciously appreciating that I live my life "devoted to hope".

I don't know where it originates, but "Hope Springs Eternal" really covers everything and everyone, from the starving, frightened child in Africa, to the CEO of the Worlds largest financial institutions.

As the Architect in Matrix so rightly put it...

"Hope, at once the Human race's greatest strength" (true)..."and at the same it's greatest weakness" (true, if weakness is to keep on keeping on in the face of insurmountable odds to achieve things we never would without hope).

Hoping you find peace and good will, this week, and every other!
Darren

 Hi there,

This is my first post.  I had a wonderful breakthrough this morning after having read Michael's tip.  I had a stressful weekend,  my (nearly ex) husband bickering about how he does too much with our 3 young kids (the ones he left last year).  It was really getting to me.

So I wrote out the little list as recommended.  Thought about what the expectations and issues really were.  Then I emailed him and offered him a lie in on his alternate saturdays - and smiled my way through the rest of the day.  3 days of anger/disappointment over.
