Hi. Now that I don't have a TV I have a lot more time on my hands. I've started filling this time with self hypnosis. Originally I tried the Betty Erickson technique of going through the different senses but I wasn't sure what to do after I had finished cycling through so I gave up. Now I am doing a different technique of relaxing then counting down from 20 while visualizing each number. Then I visualize myself as I would like to be... going through the self talk that I am telling myself and the feelings that I have... then I step into the image and bathe in the good feelings. Next I go onto suggestions and this is where I'm not sure of the way I should phrase the words. And also I don't know how many suggestions or repetitions I should do. I don't have a script as I just make it up as I go along. Any suggestions on suggestions? Or any other things I have to take note of that can improve my practice?

Hi Brain

The magic number for repeated suggestions is 3, three, free, I think you might have that idea, now.

By any change are you putting your induction into a mp3 and a tape?  This way you can just go along with it and not have to think about it as you go along.

Slow…your… speech…rate…down, so…you’re… talking… about… to… two… too…2…times…slower…than…
You…normally…doing ,this will help slow your brain down from beta, to alpha, and soon after to a theta level, yet it does not really matter to much, about what arousal level your brain is at, as trance works, just by the process of language anyway.

What type of thinks are you working on, that way  I can write a little induction for ya, to happy with.

Hi Jay. Thanks for the tips. I don't use an audio device at the moment but I'll certainly use one in the future. I am currently working on two main areas in my life. I want to lose 2 stone to get back to my ideal weight (I know it is my responsibility but I'm blaming the TV for commanding me to sit in front of it watching Quizmania till 3AM). The visualization technique I use is from Paul Mckenna's book I Can Make You Thin.

The other thing is smoking. I used to smoke many years ago but stopped. Then about a year ago I started again and now it seems easier to just keep smoking that go through the hassle of changing although I want to change. ( I did stop for 2 months and had no withdrawal effects and only a few cravings but it is the first few days were the cravings nagged me the most)

Thanks for offer of the induction. I would appreciate that greatly. Smiley

Hypnotic induction

As I am sitting or laying here in the comfort of my own mind and body, knowing that I can move in anyway that allows, me to find the comfort that lets me, soften in all the right places, and I can just flow along to this or that place in my mind, and as I allow my self to wonder, inside now letting my breathing  become fuller and as I breath out, I can let out all the tension go, inside now and as this and that thought begins to flow, letting all the tension go, I know I can have thoughts, and ideas, and I can wonder, just how relaxed I can be, and as I think about how relaxed I can be and can allow my self to just find that new level of being relaxed, and as I allow myself to find that new relaxation, I can allow my thoughts to find even more comfort from the top of my head to the tip of my toes, and it’s really easy just to go with the flow, now as I know what I want to learn, in new ways, I can learn lots of new ways to change, in all the right ways that work for me,  so as I begin to slow down, my tone and tempo, just enough to allow more time to pass, in the right ways, that work for me, I know I can find all the comfort in all the right places in time now, back way back when, before I knew about knowing,  and knowing that I have all the new ways to do a new, way of being before I had ever begun, going to the before the first time, that this or that happened, and having a new choose, about choosing, what I would can and do in places of that way of not being any more, and as I do this new way of being in the first place, I can notice, noticing the new history changing, in just the right ways, that give and allow more flexibility, in dealing with the day today things, that happened, in the ways before I knew, that I new before I could forget to remember in all the right places, that allow, me to put in place, the right skills, before you know, that you needed them in all the right times and places in time, and at the same time you can add, new ideas, thoughts and concepts, in the right ways that change you in the most desirable, and create ways, that you want and need to, with every really knowing just how easy change can be, yet like learning anything new, you have to go inside and practise, in all them times and places, where you have all the new and right skills just where you needed them now, and before you ever new, that you could know, back there, allowing all the right changes to happen, in time with what works best for you, and knowing you can add and change, and make all the right adjustments, before and after the fact, that you have all the mind time you need to allow the changes to happen in just the right ways for you in the time that you have, and as you can take this and that time back into the then and when, you can see, hear and feel this and that new you, in all your tomorrows, becoming fully and completely, whole and together in every sense of the word, and has you can grow your self esteem, in all the best ways that work for you, you know that change is as easy as ABC, and as you can count on, some letter being in ever word, then you can also count that all the right changes will happen in just the right ways, that work for and with your best and higher self, in mind yet knowing you can make any and  all adjustments back before you ever knew that you needed them, and it happens just so in all the right ways. For you now, and the rest of your, you know for the rest of this time you can just go in and change and right now, you can just rest and let it all happen unconsciously just because you can. Making things bigger and brighter, looking from this or that point of view, pushing something out of the way and stepping right into the right things that work for you, makes some thoughts black and white out of mind, and allow others to brighten up you life in just the right ways, and you know all the right ways, to be just your very best with out knowing just how it happened in the time and places then you needed now. Before anytime occurred, it happened before it begun. Now you can get a sense of this time right now, and slowly make any and all the changes you want and need, and as you know it’s time to get back in to the now, you can slowly and completely, be in the right here and now, in all the ways that work for you.

Thanks Jay. Just a question that may seem a little silly. As this is an induction does that mean it is at the beginning and that I have to add my own suggestions/visualizations after it? I tried my usual routine last night and did as you suggested with slowing down my tempo. This seemed to work very well as I felt a lot more floatier (my made up word of the day Tongue). There seemed to be a lot less intrusion from the usual constant yapping going on in my mind. I also, by accident, changed where the voice was coming from. Usually I would say the suggestions as if it was my conscious mind doing the talking. This time I noticed my voice coming from my throat and it sounded more like I was the listener than the speaker. I enjoyed this experience more.

On another note. I was rereading Patterns Vol one... jumping to the part where Erickson worked with Huxley. There was a bit that stood out and ignited a memory. Erickson was explaining what the subject in trance sees in their field of vision and that Huxley in this case was only aware of Erickson... his chair... Himself and His chair... and nothing else other than hallucinations generated in the process. Well a few years back I was a participant in a hypnosis stage show. For a long time now I was confused if at the time I had my eyes closed during the whole trance. I remember at one point looking into the crowd and only seeing mostly black with a few silhouettes. Everything else in my visual field was hallucinated. So maybe I didn't have my eyes closed after all Shocked.

Well I was going through this memory today and I noticed that I was going back into hypnosis. I'm going to experiment further with this in my practice and see if I can get fully back into the memory and take it from there.

PS. My friend said after that I was the star of the show Grin

Hi

You can do a host of things with this type of induction; you can think how you would like to be, after you have done the change work, i.e. set your out come before you start. And allow the word matrix to work for you or you can create a metaphorical representation of what skills you want and need in any given time and place and again allow the installation to happen in just the right ways that work for you.


It’s been many, many years since I read my patterns book, yet revivification, or the process of re-experiencing trance through mental recall, is really useful and makes working with trance really easy, like if your on a train, and just allow your attention to look at the speeding ground, with in a very short time, the whole world begins to slow down, and you begin to hear your heart beat, and the plus and the blood flow in your head as you just drop in to the right state, that allows time to stand still. Noticing the elongation of your peripheral vision flow by and allow the comfort that allows you to step back into any time and place that works for you.

That’s my favourite way to distort time.

Keep what you want and need as clear and as simple as possible,  our brains like and responds, best to, direct signals, no, off, hot, cold, black, white,  yes, No etc, etc, etc.

My induction blends, basic hypnosis with NLP, and if you was to take the time, you would find, more then one induction happing at the same time. Yet you don’t need to look for that, as its right there for the taking.

metaphorical representation, just imagine, that you are holding  two balls of light, one holds all the behaviours that you no longer what or need, and in the other hand you are holding the new you at your very, very best, doing, feeling and being, you’re supreme and perfect best, now as you allow that old you in that ball of light, flout just by you can allow the words in the induction to change and recode, all the stuff you didn’t not need now anymore, and allow that ball of light to get smaller and smaller, as you change in all the right ways, and as the new you, can be placed in to all the times and places that you could ever want or need this new change to happen, in the most easier and delightful ways can you can bring to mind, and it’s does not matter if, you change now, or in a little while, as all the right changes with happen in just the right ways for you with out you knowing how or why, yet they do, just like you can know your name, you can remember in just the right ways that work for you, with out knowing, just how easy you can learn now.

Now I know I am a little random, yet that’s the good thing about, trance is it’s not set in stone.
